OAA Statement in Support of Alliance of Cuban Christians

OAA Expresa Apoyo a Nueva Asociación Independiente, la Alianza de Cristianos de Cuba
Miami, FL – Outreach Aid to the Americas (OAA, o Alcance de Ayuda a las Américas) hoy declaró su apoyo a una asociación independiente religiosa en Cuba formada en 2022, la Alianza de Cristianos de Cuba (ACC). La Alianza sostuvo la semana pasada en la provincia de Santiago de Cuba su tercera reunión presencial, y ha atraído a más de 50 pastores y líderes cristianos de diferentes denominaciones. (Ver abajo su declaración emitida tras esta reunión.)
En una declaración emitida después de esta última reunión, la ACC afirmó que se compromete “a trabajar por sanar las heridas de nuestra nación dañada y dividida por un proyecto social fracasado que sigue dejando a sus ciudadanos despojados de su dignidad como seres humanos”. También dijeron, “Trabajaremos para abogar por mayores libertades políticas, económicas, religiosas y sociales para que todos los cubanos puedan vivir con dignidad y autodeterminación”.
En sus encuentros, los miembros de la ACC han debatido sobre varios temas, entre ellos el disfrute de los derechos sociales y humanos en Cuba, en particular las libertades de expresión, de asociación, y de religión o creencia; la “responsabilidad social” de las iglesias; y los derechos legales de los movimientos religiosos. También han abordado el tema de como “desintoxicar” a sus hijos del adoctrinamiento del sistema comunista.
El Presidente y Jefe Ejecutivo de OAA Dr. Teo Babun dijo: “Es alentador ver a líderes cristianos cubanos unirse por una causa común: la promoción de los derechos humanos y la justicia no solo para sus comunidades sino para todos los cubanos. El mensaje que la Alianza de Cristianos de Cuba está impartiendo es crítico: las iglesias cristianas si tienen una responsabilidad social, y este es un papel esencial en la Cuba de hoy, donde el pueblo sufre una crisis humanitaria y una de las peores situaciones de vulneración de sus derechos humanos en décadas. Estos son los esfuerzos de ciudadanos independientes que debemos apoyar y que llevaran a una Cuba libre donde todos puedan disfrutar plenamente de sus derechos fundamentales y puedan vivir dignamente. Por todo esto felicitamos a todos los que forman parte de la ACC y expresamos nuestro apoyo y solidaridad con esta nueva alianza”.

Reunidos en la provincia de Santiago de Cuba
Nosotros: Líderes cristianos de varias denominaciones, miembros de la Alianza de Cristianos de Cuba reunidos en expresión de unidad, respeto y amor a nuestro Señor Jesucristo, para fortalecer la obra de Dios en la nación cubana con énfasis en el establecimiento de la justicia de Dios nos comprometemos:
A desarrollar y mantener una confraternidad basada en el respeto mutuo y la colaboración para auxiliar, sanar y edificar nuestras iglesias, comunidades y nación sobre la base de la creencia en la importancia de la vida familiar, el valor inherente y los derechos de todos los seres humanos, el respeto por el estado de derecho, el aprecio por la educación, el aprendizaje, la promoción de la justicia social y la ayuda hacia los necesitados que son la base del humanismo cristiano.
Para ello a través de la comunión y la unidad promoveremos la justicia, veracidad, rectitud y libertad de conciencia de nuestros derechos como ciudadanos cubanos.
Nos comprometemos a trabajar por sanar las heridas de nuestra nación dañada y dividida por un proyecto social fracasado que sigue dejando a sus ciudadanos despojados de su dignidad como seres humanos.
Nos esforzaremos por crear una atmósfera de comprensión mutua, respeto y compasión entre los cubanos de la Isla y la diáspora.
Trabajamos y trabajaremos para abogar por mayores libertades políticas, económicas, religiosas y sociales para que todos los cubanos puedan vivir con dignidad y autodeterminación.
Dejamos en claro que como cristianos e iglesia de Jesucristo y ciudadanos cubanos bendecimos y honramos la nación de Israel y condenamos con todas las fuerzas los actos de terrorismo realizados en contra de dicha nación.
Pedimos a las autoridades de la nación cubana:
La liberación de todos los encarcelados por el ejercicio de sus derechos inherentes.
Que cada movimiento religioso en la Isla pueda ejercer su derecho de asociarse y por lo tanto obtener estatus legal y protección jurídica.
Que a cada ciudadano cubano se le respete el poder ejercer todos sus derechos inherentes y no se les persiga por ello.
Hermanos y hermanas de todo el mundo, les pedimos, oren por la nación cubana.
Dios les bendiga a todos.

OAA Expresses Support for New Independent Association, the Alliance of Christians of Cuba
Miami, FL – Outreach Aid to the Americas (OAA) today declared its support for an independent religious association in Cuba formed last year, the Alliance of Christians of Cuba (ACC). The Alliance held its third in-person meeting last week in the province of Santiago de Cuba, and has attracted more than 50 pastors and Christian leaders from different denominations. (Their statement following this meeting is available below.)
In a statement issued after this latest meeting, the ACC affirmed that it is committed “to work to heal the wounds of our nation damaged and divided by a failed social project that continues to leave its citizens stripped of their dignity as human beings.” They also said, “We will work to advocate for greater political, economic, religious and social freedoms so that all Cubans can live with dignity and self-determination.”
In their meetings, ACC members have discussed a number of issues, including the enjoyment of social and human rights in Cuba, particularly the freedoms of expression, association, and religion or belief; the “social responsibility” of churches; and the legal rights of religious movements. They have also addressed the issue of how to “detoxify” their children from the indoctrination of the communist system.
OAA President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Teo Babun said, “It’s encouraging to see Cuban Christian leaders coming together for a common cause: the promotion of human rights and justice not only for their communities but for all Cubans. The message that the Alliance of Cuban Christians is imparting is critical: Christian churches do have a social responsibility, and this is an essential role in today’s Cuba, where the people are suffering a humanitarian crisis and one of the worst periods human rights violations in decades. These are the efforts of independent citizens that we must support and that will lead to a free Cuba where everyone can fully enjoy their fundamental rights and live in dignity. For all these reasons we congratulate all those who are part of the ACC and express our support for and solidarity with this new alliance”.

Final Declaration of the Third National Meeting of the Alliance of Christians of Cuba
Gathered in the province of Santiago de Cuba
We: Christian leaders of various denominations, members of the Alliance of Christians of Cuba gathered in expression of unity, respect and love for our Lord Jesus Christ, to strengthen the work of God in the Cuban nation with emphasis on the establishment of God’s justice, we commit ourselves:
To develop and maintain a fellowship based on mutual respect and collaboration to help, heal and build our churches, communities and nation based on the belief in the importance of family life, the inherent value and rights of all human beings, respect for the rule of law, appreciation for education, learning, promotion of social justice and help towards the needy, which are the basis of Christian humanism.
To this end, through communion and unity we will promote justice, truthfulness, righteousness and freedom of conscience of our rights as Cuban citizens.
We commit ourselves to work to heal the wounds of our nation damaged and divided by a failed social project that continues to leave its citizens stripped of their dignity as human beings.
We will strive to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding, respect and compassion among Cubans on the island and in the diaspora.
We work and will work to advocate for greater political, economic, religious and social freedoms so that all Cubans can live with dignity and self-determination.
We make it clear that as Christians and church of Jesus Christ and Cuban citizens we bless and honor the nation of Israel and condemn with all our might the acts of terrorism carried out against that nation.
We ask the authorities of the Cuban nation:
The release of all those imprisoned for exercising their inherent rights.
That every religious movement on the Island may exercise its right to associate and therefore obtain legal status and legal protection.
That every Cuban citizen be respected to exercise all their inherent rights and not be persecuted for it.
Brothers and sisters around the world, we ask you to pray for the Cuban nation.
