UPR Joint Submission – Cuba
OAA and the Patmos Institute made this UPR ahead of Cuba’s fourth review in November 2023. The submission demonstrates the numerous ways in which Cuba has failed to meet international human rights standards with respect to the fundamental right to freedom of religion or belief.
CSOs, Parliamentarians Urge Cuba to Invite FoRB Special Rapporteur to Visit Country
OAA and International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) released an open letter to the Cuban government urging it to invite the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief to undertake a visit to Cuba to assessment religious freedom conditions on the island. The letter is signed by more than two dozen civil society organizations and current or former parliamentarians from a variety of countries including The Gambia, Lesotho, Macedonia, Malawi, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, Timor Leste, and the United Kingdom.

Si En Cuba Hubiera Libertad Religiosa
Cuban Catholic priest Father Alberto Reyes recounts the reasons there is no religious freedom in Cuba. Through his publications on social media, reaching many in Cuba and beyond, Father Reyes has been a consistently outspoken critic of the failures of the Cuban Communist Party and of the abuses against the Cuban people.
